“From the moment I saw you” (2008) is part of ‘Manufactured Moments' - a series of one on one Live Art Investigations into what it means to be 'In the Moment' I will challenge strangers to look into my eyes for the duration of our meeting in an attempt to truly see each other. In adults, eye contact shows personal involvement and can create intimate bonds. It is claimed that mutual gaze narrows the physical gap between humans. Eye contact and facial expressions can provide important social and emotional information; people, perhaps without consciously doing so, probe each other's eyes and faces for positive or negative mood signs. In some contexts, the meeting of eyes arouses strong emotions.
Shown in room 9 An installation of mirrorballs into which are carved glossy white 'openings' which are fairly vaginal, stuffed with Vaseline. The installation is three balls in a line, slowly rotating and revealing and hiding themselves periodically, in a dark space, lit from below. The effect of the light is quite beautiful and jars slightly with the grotesque amendments to the balls.
